Break

I will be taking a break from writing until after the holidays. One, this is just a really busy time of the year in general. Two, I have picked up a bunch more hours at work. Three, I want to spend this time with my family. I do not have a specific date for when I will start writing again but I am hoping for the second week of January.

Tip Tuesday #5

Eyebrows crazy? Use a spoolie and some hairspray to keep them in place. If your looking for something with a bit more hold use some clear mascara over the brows.

Try it and leave me a comment on how it worked for you.

Tip Tuesday #4

Want your nail polish to stay on better? Before applying your polish, wipe your nails with nail polish remover. This removes the dirt and oils on your nails that prevent the polish from lasting. When the nail polish dry apply a top coat to insure it stays on.

Try it and leave me a comment on how it worked for you.

Tip Thursday #3

Hey everyone sorry this is late. I had a very busy Tuesday and couldn't get a post up on time.

Brushing your hair when its wet makes the hair break, causing more frizz. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb when wet to get those knots out. This will help your hair to stay intact for that smoother look we all want.

Tip Tuesday #2

Want more volume in you hair? Shampoo your hair from the nape of the neck up through the scalp. This seriously adds significant volume to the hair.

Free Samples

I got a bunch of  free samples of Mary Kay products. In the samples I got Satin Hands Fragrance Free Hand Softener. I like most people want soft hands but this product is just not the way to get it. First of all this is not fragrance free. While the fragrance is not overwhelming its still there. Second this feels so greasy and I mean grea-sy on the hands. No softness is worth feeling like you stuck your hands in a tub of lard. So if given the opportunity to purchase the full size product I would pass.

Tip Tuesday #1

Struggle with baby hairs or flyaways. Instead of using a ton of hairspray and never getting it right...use a clean toothbrush. Spray the toothbrush with hairspray and brush those hairs into place. This uses less hairspray but just enough to keep those hairs from being all crazy. The toothbrush also helps you concentrate on the areas that need help and not mess up the rest of the hair.

Try it and leave me a comment if it works for you.

Fall

So its beginning to look a lot like winter here on the west coast. It's so sad. :( Oh how I miss fall. Fall is such a magical time. The leaves change, they fall so gracefully to the ground, and become crunchy. It is just so pretty. The three years I spent in the Midwest I loved fall. The crisp air and wearing sweaters. Not to mention all the pretty colors of the trees. Well that is my rant about fall...lol

Jewelry Making

So I have really been getting into make jewelry again. I used to make necklaces and bracelets when I was a kid. Now I've been getting into making my own post earrings and necklaces. It's been a lot of fun to be crafty!

Just a few things I got last time I was at Michael's

Strung pearl necklace I made.

Bracelet made with the colors I love!

The earrings* I have made. I especially love the blue flowers!

Recent Purchases

I wanted to share my recent purchases.

Maybelline Master Smokey eyeliner in Provence Plum. *
- I believe this is part of the limited edition eyeliners that just came out. I love how smooth is goes on but if you want to smoke it out you need to do it quick. Really pretty plum color that compliments my dark brown eyes. It does last all day!

Jordana 12 HR Made to Last Eyeshadow Pencils
- I heard that these were good bases for eyeshadows and that was right on the money. I have been using the MAC Paintpot in Painterly which works great but is really expensive. These Jordana pencils are great and cheaper.

Left to Right: Jordana 12 HR Eyeshadow Pencil in Eternal White,  Jordana 12 HR Eyeshadow Pencil in Continuous Almond, and Maybelline Master Smokeyin Provence Plum.

Sorry this post was short I have bought  new things but haven't had a chance to try them out.

*got this in the brown color as well.

Color Tattoo

A while ago I bought the Tough as Taupe Color Tattoo cream eye shadow from Maybelline. Last week I decided to buy three more, Too Cool, Audacious Asphalt, and Barely Branded.

Left to right: Too Cool, Audacious Asphalt, and Barely Branded

Left to right: Too Cool, Audacious Asphalt, and Barely Branded

I really like these because they stay on for hours. I will tell you when I put them on my hand to take the photo below, I had a hard time getting them off. I tried washing them off, then I tried hand sanitizer and that didn't work. Makeup remover is the only way to get these off.

Left to right: Too Cool, Audacious Asphalt, and Barely Branded

The great thing about these is they are really quick to put on. You can just use your finger to get some color on you eyelids. Great thing about these is they are shimmery which is really pretty when it catches the light!

I will say the only one I don't like that much is the Too Cool. The consistency of this one is not like the others. I really had to work with it to get it they way I wanted. Not a big fan of this one but I will still use it.

*This product can be found at CVS, Walgreens, and Target.

Playlists

So this morning I decided to get on YouTube and I came across my old playlists. So I decided to delete a few and see what I had on some of the other ones. It's so funny to see what I was interested in when I was 13 and what was popular then. The worst part is I remember most of the lyrics...lol.

nail polish!

So you guys know I love nail polish! We no surprise I got 4 new one! The are all Wet'n Wild Megalast nail polishes.
Right to left: Heatwave, Candy-Licious, Sugar Coat, and Break the Ice

-Heatwave is a coral pink color, which is great for the summer but I think will also transfer into the fall. I just put this one on and you will need to use two coats.
-Candy-Licious is a bubblegum pink color, which is a classic pink color.
-Sugar Coat is a pastel pink, which will be great for a French manicure.
-Break the Ice is an off white with sparkles in it, which is great for a French manicure of an all over color. I have already worn Break the Ice as an all over color. It is not stark white which is a nice change!

All of these nail polishes were bought at CVS.

New Products!

Hey guys I know it has been a while but I am super busy with my new job. Over the past two months or so I have tried a few new products and wanted to share those with you guys.

1. Physicians Formula Happy Boosters Bronzing Veil
I like this a lot because it is a bronzing veil. With that said it is not too orange or bronze for me. You can put it on light or build it up like I did in the photo. Quite pretty for my fair complexion. I just love the packaging of the loose hearts....so cute!

2. Maybelline Tastefully Taupe eye shadow
This is just basic everyday color and I like it a lot.

3. Maybelline 24 hr Color Tattoo cream eye shadow in Tough as Taupe
I wanted to try this to see if the long wear claim was true and it lived up to that. Even when I went to take it off with a makeup wipe it was hard to get off.

4. Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments eye shadow in Downtown Brown
This is another everyday color. It is a goldish brown.

Right to left: 24 hr Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Downtown brown, and Tastefully Taupe eye shadow.
Top to bottom: Tastefully Taupe eye shadow, 24 hr Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, and Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Downtown brown.

4. Revlon Diamond Lust eye shadow in Night Sky.
I was kind of disappointed in this one. I was hoping it had more glitter. Sadly the packaging make it look like there is more glitter.

5. Sephora Pro Flawless Makeup brush #56
I love this without a doubt. I was looking for a foundation brush that wouldn't leave me streaky and this was it! It is a dense brush which is a perfect combo with my MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation.

6. Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting, Cotton Candy, Berry Smoothie, and Peach Parfait
I love these. They are tinted lip butter that come in great colors. Sugar Frosting is a subtle nude pink, Cotton Candy is just a light pink, Berry Smoothie is a great berry color, and Peach Parfait has some glitter to that peach color. Love these! Wear them all the time!

Coming soon

Ok so I know it has been a while since my last blog. I had a set schedule at work and now it has changed again. I am going to try to get new posts up on Sundays and Mondays but I can not say there will be a post every week. It really depends on my life at the moment. I have a few ideas in mind and 2 posts in progress. I am going to try to get those up ASAP.

First Impressions

Ok I know I said I was going to get this post up after finals but right after finals got crazy with graduation....so I am finally getting it up now.

First, I got some more Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Polishes. I got Through the Grapevine 208 B, Haze of Love 215 B, Disturbia 217 B, and Under Your Spell 216 B. If you read my New Product blog in April, you will know I love the megalast nail polishes. So I was really happy when I found these on sale again. Through the Grapevine is a really pretty fuchsia color and it went on very well. Haze of Love is a dark red that is almost a red wine color and this one also went on well. I have had my eye on Disturbia for a while now and so I bought it this time. It is a deep shimmery purple. I was disappointed in this one though. It went on very thin and it took 4 coats to look good, also when it dried all the shimmer was gone. :( I also had my eye on Under Your Spell for a while. I thought it was going to be this dark brown with red shimmer in it. I was sooooooooooo disappointed with this. It went on like a thin black brown with red shimmer. :( :( I am so unhappy with this one I will probably not even wear it again. I usually love the megalast nail polishes but these last two were just not up to par with the others.

From left to right: Through the Grapevine, Haze of Love, Disturbia, and Under Your Spell.

Second, I tried the Physicians Formula (PF) Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15 in Light to Natural. It is 100% natural and 80 % organic.  It is free of harsh chemicals, parabens, synthetic preservatives, GMO's, synthetic colors and, synthetic fragrances. Plus it is not test on animals (huge plus for us animal lovers). It claims to hydrate skin, even out skin tone, and protect against sun damage. I have been wanting to try a tinted moisturizer for the summer because it would be lighter than the M.A.C. foundation. So I was at CVS when I walked past the PF section and I saw a bunch of things on sale. I saw the tinted moisturizer and was like ok I like PF. What appealed to me was that it was organic, just like the mascara I bought in April. When I opened the bottle it smelled strongly like it is organic which isn't bad. The only thing I would recommend is to apply this in section because it dries and absorbs into your skin pretty fast. It does leave a dewy finish so I went over it with powder to make it more matte. It does oxidize a bit so it makes me look a bit more than I really am. I am not really upset with that but it goes on more like a foundation.

Wearing the PF Organic Tinted Moisturizer and Wet n Wild Eye Wand in 200901

Third, I bought Wet n Wild Perfect Pair Eye Wand in 105501 and 200901. These are double ended eye wands; one end is an eyeliner and the other is an eye shadow. I thought these would be great for travel because they are compact. The packaging says it is a creamy eye shadow and eyeliner. UH FALSE, they are very dry when they went on and not blend-able. 105501 is a grey eye shadow with a black liner and 200901 is a gold bronze eye shadow with the same color eyeliner. 200901 was  disappointing because I was expecting the eyeliner to be darker than the eye shadow. The only thing I would say is when they are on they appear to be creamy. Not very happy with these at all. I have not worn them since I tried them.

From left to right: 105501 and 200901.

All in all it was kind of hit and miss with these first impressions.

Heads up!

Hey guys,
Sorry it has been a while. It is coming down to the end of school and fortunately this week hasn't been to bad. Most of my major projects were done towards the end of last month so that is why there hasn't been a post in a while. I did want to give you a heads up to a new post coming soon. I bought a few new beauty products and I kind of wanted to do a first impressions post of these products. I am not sure when it is going to get up because I have finals and graduation next week. So...it might get up this weekend but if it doesn't it will be up after next week.

New Products!

I was going to wait until the end of the month to share what new products I have tried but I have tried a lot in the last couple of weeks. I also do not plan on trying any more new things this month so I am doing it early. Some of these products I like and some I do not like.

Nail polish
Wet n’ Wild Megalast nail polishes in Bite the Bullet 207B, Wet Cement 201C, I Need a Refresh-Mint 218A, and On a Trip 213C.
  • I love the Megalast collection! The applicator brush is one of the best things. It is a bigger brush which makes it go on so much smoother and in fewer coats.

The first two in the picture I have not tried yet.
From right to left: Silvivor, Blue Wants to Be a Millionaire, Wet Cement, Bite the Bullet, On a Trip, and I Need a Refresh-Mint.

I Need a Refresh-Mint and On a Trip.

Bite the Bullet and Wet Cement

Hair Products
Pureology Serious Colour Care Essential Repair Condition Apres Shampoo (what a mouthful)
  • I had some samples laying around from my hair dresser and I decided that I should probably use them. So I tried this. It was not anything special. I did not really see a difference in my hair...so it is not worth buying a full size.

Dove Hair Therapy Refresh + Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo
  • It says it is supposed to refresh and revive hair between regular showering. I used this today and I love the smell. I am going to try it again before actually saying it works because today has been three days since I have washed my hair. Next time I will try it on the second day and see if I think it works. Anyways love the smell!

Conair Bobby Pin Container
  • I got this because I am constantly loosing bobby pins. So far I think this would be great to keep them together in a drawer, in your purse, or travel.

Skin
Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream
  • This was also a sample. The little packet it came in, said it can be used to treat problem dry skin, split cuticles, chapped lips, eczema, and sunburns. When I got it I thought ok great maybe I can use this on my elbows. My elbows are always dry and rough, does not matter what I try. So I tried this the first time and the smell is weird. I thought if it works I can get over the smell. I tried it three times and I did not see any difference in my skin.

Teeth
Luster Premium White Power White Daily Fluoride Toothpaste.
  • It says it is an enamel-safe dentist peroxide formula and removes surface stains as well as deep stains. I think this works pretty well. After I brushed my teeth it felt like I had just been to the dentist. Only thing I did not like was when I opened it for the first time compressed air came out and the tube was really only half full. So I paid for air....not cool.

Makeup
I have been loving Physicians Formula Makeup. So glad I found this new brand!

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Lash Boosting Mascara.
  • I  have heard great things about this mascara. Something that appealed to me is it is organic. It says it is 100% free from hash chemical, synthetic preservative, parabens, clumping, smudging, flaking, fibers, and dyes. It also says that it makes lashes longer, thicker and more dramatic looking. I tired this and I love it! It does not clump, smudge, flake, or make my lashes hard. I would not say it made my lashes any longer but I already have really long lashes. Something I really liked about this was the big brush and packaging.

Top to bottom: Physicians Formula and Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express

Physicians Formula Eye Definer Felt Tip Eye Maker Liquid Eyeliner
  • I heard good things about this too and decided to try it. It says it is easy to apply, smudge proof, smear proof, fade proof, and fool proof. It also says it is easy to make a fine line or bold line. I did not like this. I had to keep going over and over it to make it dark enough. It was not an easy application like it says. This product is not for me.

Top to bottom: One is just a quick swipe across the skin, several thin swipes, and several thick swipes.

Physicians Formula Powder Multi-Colored Pressed Powder in Creamy Natural for Light Skin Tones
  • I just wanted to try a cheaper powder and so I decided to try this since it was on sale. I love the packaging for this product; the powder is on top but them flips up with a mirror on the other side. This would be great to keep in my purse. Unfortunately it is too light for my skin. I might be able to use this when I am more pale but for now it is too light.

Physicians Formula Powder Multi-Colored Pressed Powder in Buff for Light to Medium Skin Tones
  • So I went back to get a darker color and this one matches my skin tone better.

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow and Mood Boosting Powder in Translucent
  • I bought this to use as a highlight for my cheeks or brows. The packaging is so cute, practical, and easy to throw into my purse. I do not know if it really boosts your mood but it smells good. It says it has a sweet sent of Violet which I like.

Top to bottom: Happy Booster Glow and Mood Boosting Powder, Multi-Colored Pressed Powder in Buff, and Multi-Colored Pressed Powder in Creamy Natural.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in Cherish 015 and Honey 001
  • I watch this one Youtuber and she is always talking about these balm stains. She was absolutely loving these. So I was at CVS the other day and they were on sale buy 1 get on 50% off so I bought these two. I really like these. It goes on more like a balm and smells a bit like menthol (its not bad). It last a long time as well. I would say after about 8 hours the color is still there but I wanted to reapply because it was a bit more faded and dried out.

Left to Right: Cherish and Honey

Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil Pure White 071
  • I do not have a picture of this one, sorry. I bought this to use in my water line to make my eyes look bigger and more awake.
Maybeline Line Express Eyeliner in Soft Black 902
  •  I do not have a picture of this one either, sorry. I bought this just a basic eyeliner.
Deluxe Lux Purple Glitter Makeup Pouch
  • I actually traveled with this over spring break so technically it is not a new product for this month. I love it. It is the perfect size for my everyday makeup!

Almost all of these products can be bought at Wal-Mart, CVS, or Target. I bought the makeup pouch online at Little Black Bag, it is not available anymore on their website.

Ok that was a lot but that is a rare occurrence for me to try that many new things in a month. Keep checking back for new blog postings. I have some ideas in mind for the next couple of blogs. If you have any suggestions for products you think I would like or blog posting ideas, comment below. Thanks again for reading!
